About World War II or Dehradoone Model:

his Kukri was originated in Nepal but later Indian Gurkha Army applied it. Before World War II, it is used to make in Dehradoon, in India. Hence it is also called Dehradoone. It is slightly bigger, heavier and more curved than standard sized Khukuri, Service No. 1. The sight of this formidable Khukuri in the hands of the Gurkha soldiers was enough to bring the enemy at their wit's ends. The blade of this Khukuri is made from graded carbon steel mostly used in railway tracks. The sheath is made of Buffalo hide. The handle is full-tang (Panawal Angkhola) style. The blade is therefore visible all around the handle. The handle is joined strongly to the blade with two metal rivets that can also be seen at the sides. The measurement of this Khukuri is 16" along with 5.5" long handle and weighs 900 grams. The handle of this Khukuri is made of rose-wood. The total shipping weight including display wooden stand with packing will 1.5kg.

Where this Kukri is come from?

The origin of the Kukri is in Nepal, but British Indian Gurkhas applied it and they started manufacturing in Dehradoon during the WW II. Therefore it’s also called Dehradoone Kukri. Nowadays, the Replica version of WWII is made at our factory in Dharan. Dharan is a small Gurkha town that is located in eastern Nepal. Dharan is very famous and important place for Gurkha recruiting.

• Blade: The blade is made of high graded Carbon steel and has been poured the cold-water temper on the blade that makes the blade very strong. Thickness at spine of the blade is about 10 mm and gradually drops toward the tip and edge of the blade. It's 11" Long. The widest part of blade is 1.80 Inches at the middle of the blade. The total weight of the blade (only blade) is about 550 grams.

Handle: The Metal fittings handle is made of beautiful stripped through very hard Rosewood. And it has 4.8" to 5.15" inches long. The metallic Full tang (Chirawal Handle) goes through the handle from blade to all the way to pummel gives the ever-lasting strength and provides much needed protection during hand-to-hand combat. The blade is therefore visible all around the handle. The handle is joined strongly to the blade with two metal rivets that can also be seen at the sides.
•Scabbard: The sheath is made of softwood and carefully wrapped from outside by buffalo leather. The Scabbard has a stripe at the back part for the belt to go through. The brass fitting (Kothi) on the tip of the scabbard protects the sheath from blade. It weighs about 225 grams.

•Wooden Display Stand: This double rack Khukuri display stand is handmade by using only conventional domestic tools. It is made out of treated wood called Ashna, famously known in Nepal as “Seesau”. They are foldable (hands come apart) so that they can be carried and transported very easily. They are also completely break-free since they can be swiftly dismantled. The upper pair of hands is designed to hold the scabbard and lower pair for the blade. The total weight of a stand is about 400 grams.

•Two small knives; Karda & Chak-mak: Every Khukuri comes with 2 small knives. The Chak-mak (blunt) is used as flint tool and sharpener the blade. Using the Chak-mak against the edge of the Khukuri to and fro does the traditional method of sharpening a Khukuri. The other knife accompanying Chak-mak is the Karda that is used for skinning purposes.
